
Today, the General Agency for the Development of Children with Disabilities hosted an opening ceremony at the Center for Rehabilitation and Development of Children with Disabilities to welcome the International Day for the Protection of the Rights of the Child. Government Resolution No. 125, approved in April 2019, decided to establish a state-funded enterprise “Center for Rehabilitation and Development of Children with Disabilities” under the General Agency for Development of Persons with Disabilities. On the occasion of the 70th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between Mongolia and China, the construction of the center was completed and handed over with a grant from the Chinese government. The center is the first major development for children with disabilities in Mongolia. The center, which provides free services to children with disabilities in 21 aimags and 9 districts, has a capacity of 250 inpatient beds and 250 outpatient clinics for a total of 500 children. The opening ceremony was attended by the Prime Minister of Mongolia U.Khurelsukh, the Minister of Labor and Social Welfare S.Chinzorig, the Deputy Minister of Labor and Social Welfare S.Mungunchimeg and the Member of Parliament Undraa. The event was opened by the Prime Minister of Mongolia U.Khurelsukh on the eve of International Children's Day. He emphasized the need for children with disabilities to be educated, to have equal participation in society, and to be able to work and live independently in the future. He also noted that the reduction of acquired disability and the elimination of the causes of disability are important issues in the health sector. During the inauguration of the Rehabilitation and Development Center for Children with Disabilities, the center provided consultations, information, training, psychological counseling, legal and social welfare policies, and infrastructure for children with disabilities and their parents. There is a unified access point. There will also be an exhibition of handicrafts for children with intellectual disabilities, a photo exhibition titled “We have one sky” by “Universal Development” NGO, an exhibition of handicrafts by talented students of vocational schools, a children's face painting service, children's drama and art. There were performances such as bending performances and horse fiddle melodies that delighted the eyes, mind and spirit. Teachers from Ulaanbaatar's special schools participated in the event and organized fun drawing and agility competitions for children with disabilities to draw and develop their senses in groups appropriate to their age, mindset and skills.
